Carmen’s place: Reviews & Ratings
This place is AMAZING!! Been here since the 70's & I've been going here since I was a kid/young teen in the 90's-00's. I would play outside while my step-dad Troy would work off his meal in the kitchen for Carmen (RIP)! Amazing place, amazing people, & delicious, affordable food!! Please check it out, support it, & help keep the legacy alive through these trying times!!
We had an amazing experience at Carmen’s Place. Self service chips and dips with all the fixings as well as drinks. Super inexpensive and delicious food. The owner is now Carmen’s son and he has amazing stories to tell about the place. Feels like a step back in time, in the best way. We felt like VIPs as he offered us free dessert (but I have a feeling he makes everyone feel like a VIP). Wish we came here sooner. Go support local & keep good ole places like this alive!
Very cozy place family oriented. Food was delicious must stop there to eat. They have your own chips and salsa serving with nacho cheese and pinto beans. The salsa are on the side and you pour your own drink. The price are very affordable we got 5 plates plus drinks it was $36. They have a big table to eat and 4 additional seating. For desert you can get a free leche quemado candy. The chef will give you the history of that place.
To Go Review: The place doesn't have the best looks from the outside, but the inside is welcoming and spacious. They have partial outdoor seating as well as a fully inside. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We got the mix plate, with all things pictured for $7.50 total. They have the typical fixings (jalapenos, spicy salsa, onions limes etc) there available to pack for to go, as well as a station with a variety of chips to take as you want. Just keep in mind they stay out in the open so they may be stale. Not a big deal but nice that they offer it anyway. The tostada was tasty, as well as the enchilada, beans and tamale. The taco was basic and the rice was a little on the bland side. Overall, I can't complain because it's a great value.. very worth the price and the owner is very kind, so go support and give them a try!
Great place to bring the family. The owner/cook was really friendly and ask if we wanted to play chest with him. The menu is very inexpensive. I paid less.than $40 for 5 people including drinks. Chips are self serve and include salsa, beans, cheese, and a lot of other toppings. I understand that place has been in business since the 70's. Food was made from scratch and was very delicious.
A piece of old Texas that still lives. The food is better than most other places and the owner is passionate about ensuring you’re taken care of.
Amazing place. Just happened across it after fishing one day and glad I did! Great prices, very friendly ownership and staff. Definitely a hole in the wall, so don't expect fancy, but if you are looking for great food at a great price, this is your place!
You have to eat and experience Carmen’s Place. It’s amazing inside and out. Great food and amazing service.
